TAKE ACTION: COOK COUNTY HEALTH SERVICES

Pick up the phone and call Cook County Commissioner Greg Goslin 312-603-4932 to urge his support of the Cook County Bureau of Health Services.

Solving the State Budget Problem

On September 19th, hundreds of people representing our community agencies, and municipalities packed the Hoffman Estates City Hall to protest the budget cuts in Springfield. The meeting, sponsored by local state representatives, allowed people to speak against the Governor's recent budget veto. Meanwhile, the Senate was in session endorsing an expansion in gambling licenses. Voices for Illinois Children offers a solution in their new report, Generating New Revenue, Improving Tax Fairness. Yet no one in leadership has the will to discuss this solution. This election cycle is the time to ask for a solution in Springfield.

A MESSAGE FROM SUE WALTON

In order to provide the voters the best and most efficient service at their polling place, the Cook County Clerk's Office would like to place one Equipment Manager (EM) in each precinct. The EM is one of the 5 election judges in the precinct and oversees the set up, maintainence, and troubleshooting of the equipment when necessary. New EMs must attend three classes on the voting equipment and receive extensive hands-on training. New EM's receive $500.00 for successfully completing three classes and working on Election Day. Contact Susan MacDonald at 847-358-8936 or Gail Weisberg, Cook County Election Department, 312-603-0972 or gaweisb@cookcountygov.com.
